So Monday was the BentCarGuys social, Tuesday was movie night, Last night was SML Social, tonight I’ll be meeting up with some friends from SharePoint (time to catch up with old colleagues), and tomorrow night there’s an event I’ve been requested to go to out on the Hill, Saturday I think I’m doing something, then doing something else on Sunday. I think most of these events are in my calendar, at least I hope so. Oh, and a date this weekend. EEK.

A well intentioned evening was had, met up with some friends from the BentCarGuys car club, met up with another friend, then came home. Nothing too out of the ordinary, just tired from a long day with a lot more to come tomorrow. Should be able to handle it, just a lot of new tech being thrown at me and I’m still learning some of it. Always fun!
Night!

It’s been 75 days since I started at Quilogy (now part of Aspect Software), and things are still going well. There are still a lot of people that do not know that I left Microsoft, so here’s some catching up for you. I no longer work for Microsoft for my own reasons. I can go back and work there at any time, so there’s no ill intent on either side, just a difference of opinion with those that I worked with and me. I am glad I made the choice to leave, because I am now able to see the wonderful world of SharePoint from a different angle, that of the general public on the customer side. Quilogy, now Aspect, works on projects as a vendor for Microsoft. These projects include a wide array of technologies (RTM as well as beta products), and many different areas which include research on how/if things can be done, demonstrations of software such as for conferences, literature, and several other types of work. Aspect is now a SharePoint business in addition to their UC (unified communications) and call center business. UC & C, or unified communications and collaboration, is what makes Aspect unique I think.
Ok, enough on all of that. I ended up ditching AT&T’s service due to poor service in my area of Washington, and poor customer service in trying to fix the problem. I was actually told that I had to use the latest app from AT&T in order to mark where I was having issues, and send that data to them. Yeah, that app? Called Mark the Spot. All it does is send data to AT&T telling them there’s a “possible” issue with that spot. Too bad the app never worked because there is such bad reception where I live. To say the least, I switched over to Verizon and their Android-based phone, the Droid. I love it. It’s Linux-based, with Java apps running on top of it. It’s stable, reliable, and genuinely geeky fun to use.
Let’s see, what else. Oh, I’m still single, but there’s always a chance I’ll meet someone nice through a friend or the like. Who knows. I told myself I would never blog in bed, but here I am, blogging in bed. What? I can’t help it. The laptop has Windows Live Writer on it, and I hooked it up to my blog on bernt.net. I was hoping to read a bit on the Kindle, but looks like 6am is coming too quickly, so I’d better head off.
Night!

After spending a few hours out with friends last night (where a few means 7), I felt like today was going to be one of those days where I needed to sleep in and take it easy. I did a few loads of laundry, read a bit, and prepared some work stuff for the coming week. Also managed to get my newest pair of glasses back from Lenscrafters (3rd time for "artifacts in the lenses", but at least they took them and created new ones without charging me). Should be an interesting week to say the least. ;)

Inga, my '07 VW GLI, is now back from the dealer with new air conditioning components, and not a moment too soon. The weather is starting to get scalding hot once again, and since I do not have A/C in my apartment, I must have it somewhere easily accessible! So perhaps a drive later on this evening in order to cool off is in order. I've debated going to see a movie, and have heard that Bruno offends the unoffendable, and Transformers is mediocre at best, but hey, I have a free ticket for a local theater so I might go see both. LOL.

Had a great time out with some friends for drinks tonight (a bit impromptu, but a welcome invite). Tomorrow I have to take my Mark V GLI in for a safety recall 40J2/S4. Supposedly certain years of my GLI (with DSG) could have an issue with the driveshaft screws, so quite literally, my car has a few screws loose! At least potentially, but hopefully not. At the same time, I'm hoping to get the refrigerant recharged so my AC works again. It's been a summer not to be without it so far, even though it's already July, and I hope that's all that it needs to get it working properly again with cool air. Otherwise, still loving my GLI. :)

Well the whole 64bit Windows 2008 Server on Mac Mini was fun, but that was a while ago. I've since moved back to Mac OSX and run VMWare Fusion on it with Windows Server inside a VM. At least it's still 64bit, and I don't have to worry about driver issues. Besides, it was the first re-post using Windows Live Writer I had, so I thought I'd use WLW to post it back to my new blog. There's a few other entries I can load up, but otherwise I can't be bothered with it at the moment. :)

The latest Apple Mac Minis come with an Intel Core2Duo chip, and with 2 gig of memory, I decided I would put Windows Server 2008 on my MacMini. Well, the first few attempts weren’t proving very worthwhile. The long story short, here’s the trick. Recreate the Windows Server 2008 x64 ISO image and burn it so the MacMini’s UEFI can load setup. Once Windows is installed, add the “Wireless Lan” feature. Once you reboot, you’re able to log onto a wireless network nearly out of the box without requiring extra drivers. Seriously, that’s it. I’m loading the Bootcamp 2.1 update package on it just so the video drivers, sound, etc. are loaded, but for a simple server (including Hyper-V capabilities) you don’t need the extra drivers.
