Mount Angel's Oktoberfest

I decided to return to my home town of Mt. Angel for a weekend, and see the Oktoberfest festivities. I got here yesterday, and already have had the sausages, ice cream and beer that make this festival great, but I can't see staying here all 4 days of it. Just as easily as it was many years ago, this town lacks stuff to do, so I think after seeing my little brother tomorrow I'll return to Seattle.

Ow, I never knew I could have such a pain in the neck!

Pain in the neck jokes aside... Ok, I worked out last Friday with a friend, and decided I would try some weight lifting exercises. Nothing major, just a few 15 pound weights, one in each hand, and did a few exercises. The next morning though, I started to feel a slight kink in the neck when I turned to one side, again didn't think anything of it. Sunday, yesterday, and today though, it was barely tolerable so I called up a chiropractor (trying physio next, no worries) in order to get rid of some of the pain. Instead of crunching my neck and back and sending me on my way, he helped stretch me out a bit, pounded my neck a bit with this handheld device which resembled a jack hammer, then electrocuted me in order to fool my body into thinking it wasn't in pain any longer. Felt a bit funny, but worked... Well most of it worked and I'm now more functional than I was this morning, but it will still smart a little when I lie down to sleep. Tomorrow (they don't waste any time) I go in for some physical therapy, and they expect to see me a few times a week for the next month or so. If they make me feel better, I'm all over it! They also gave me some of these vegan anti-inflammatory pills to take. Weird, but as long as they work! Thinking about a hot shower, maybe a jump in the hot tub...

Just another lazy Labor Day...

Or was it? Breakfast with my friend Tom, then headed to Seattle to see some of our friends' new Volvo S60 R-Design. WOOF, I'm in love (with the car). Between that and a new Volvo C30 R-Design, I'm kind of in a bind in that I cannot decide between the two! It would have to have nav, the standard bluetooth and other misc options. *grin* I've had to block the Kelly Blue Book website from my browser to keep myself from actually considering trading in my Civic Hybrid for a new Volvo. LOL! Ok, not really, but close...

Day in Ellensburg...

Today I joined some friends in Ellensburg, WA for lunch (had Thai), a hike on some nearby mountains, then an evening at the Extreme Bull Riding rodeo that was in town. Had a blast of course, but now I have a neck ache (too much whiplash from the eye candy perhaps?) and am exhausted from the 2 hour drive home. Luckily I had a Rockstar energy drink (which I know isn't good for me, but it helped keep me awake to get safely home) to get me through the drive. Does anyone know a good chiropractor in the area (Redmond-ish) that can help me with my neck problem?

As for the rest of the weekend, I'll just have to see what happens. Monday's Labor day, so 3 day weekend is already 1/3 over. UGH! In two weeks is the annual Oktoberfest in Mt. Angel, OR, my home town. www.oktoberfest.org is the website (though it's been down a lot lately, so good luck with that).

Almost Friday..

Nothing much to report this week. Just getting stuff done at work, planning on a busy weekend, and playing some video games at home.

Ugh, what to do this weekend?...

Coworker's having a shindig at his place Friday, this weekend is Northern Xposure in Seattle (which sounds like a lot of fun too!), and a handful of duties and plans between now and then.

Other than that, the area has had its fair share of thunderstorms and rain the last couple of days, which is a minor reprieve from the unusual heat. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the heat, but when it's too hot to sleep at night, that is when I start having issues...

Hot weekend in Seattle...

It's reached over 90F degrees this weekend in the Seattle area, with hopefully some slightly cooler days approaching. My friend Tom celebrated his new business yesterday, and I was invited to partake in the party.

Today, I had breakfast with my friends Craig and Mark, saw Star Wars: The Clone Wars in the theater, then had dinner at Typhoon here in Redmond. After that, I was invited out to go to the Cuff with my buddy Alfredo so we had a few beers then returned to Redmond to chat a bit more before sending him on his way so I can get some sleep. The thunderstorms last night were amazing, but they interrupted my sleeping way too much for my liking...

Actual Friday...

This post is actually Friday's post. Got my first annual review's results back today. I'm not going overseas anytime soon, but the review was good. :)

Evening in Kirkland

My friend Luke is here in the Seattle area visiting his twin brother with their parents, and I got a chance to snatch him away to have some dinner and drinks. Last time I saw him was at the Great British Bear Bash in Manchester, UK. We try to keep in touch via Facebook and email, but it's so much nicer to have a drink and some awesome Italian food at Calabria down in Kirkland. :)

A bottle of pinot noir, some lasagna and some pork dish, finished off with some tiramisu and a cappuccino, the night was fantastic. Lots of catching up, future plans and our lives in general. It was good to catch up a bit.
